The mission of the Pierce Carnegie Library Foundation is to preserve and maintain Pierce, Nebraska's 1911 Carnegie Library Building for future generations to enjoy. Although, no longer an acting lending library, having been replaced by a new facility, this is Pierce's only remaining free standing historic public building. The estimated cost for Phase One is $106,000. There has been $53,000 raised to date. Phase One is nearly complete. The windows have arrived and will be installed when the weather permits. We have already connected water and sewer to the building. Electrical will be done when the ground thaws this spring. Plans are underway to landscape the site this year since the Foundation received a grant from the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum. We will be accepting donations of plants, etc. To help cover the costs of this ongoing preservation project, several fundraising activities are in the works including a dance featuring Redeye to be held at the Pierce Pavilion May 22nd.
